AfriCamps at Oakhurst (Delayed) Experience

->

We were extremely excited to visit AfriCamps at Oakhurst accommodation in Wilderness for a glamping and hot tub experience, taking in all the nature and activities on offer. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it to our AfriCamps at Oakhurst booking. Here’s why!

Why our AfriCamps at Oakhurst Trip Was Delayed

We were supposed to stay at AfriCamps at Oakhurst for our first-ever glamping trip on 2 May 2024. On our way back from Cape Town, however, things took a seriously terrible turn, as I got bitten by a field mouse at the Skeerhok Padstal just off the N2 close to Heidelberg.

The ordeal was terrible, so much so that I didn’t want to get close to nature for a bit and had to go to the emergency room. Unfortunately, the day before, I also ordered food baskets and hot tub firewood, as well as starting the hot tub, from Oakhurst, with the “pay at property” option.

I then contacted AfriCamps at Oakhurst at about 15:00 (when we were supposed to check in) to try and cancel the food basket and firewood options. Well, I am extremely happy to report that the accommodation staff handled the situation with the utmost grace. Despite my cancellation request being VERY late on the cancellation of items, the staff had no issue canceling. What’s even nicer was that I offered to pay for the items ordered, but the staff insisted that I must not pay.

Not only that, but a staff member wished us safe travels and asked if I was okay hours later, showing concern despite my ordeal potentially costing them supplies/products. It is honestly highly commendable customer service, and I do hope we can visit them soon. Maybe I’ll even bring a nice bottle of whisky along to thank them!

We suggest checking out the AfriCamps website for more information. It’s a feature-filled experience that we wish we could have had early in 2024.

We hope to visit AfriCamps at Oakhurst in Wilderness in 2024. If our fantastic treatment during the unfortunate delay is anything to go by, we are definitely in for a treat!
