If you are looking for a unique experience in the heart of the Wilderness, Western Cape, South Africa, then Treedom Villas & Vardos might just be the accommodation you are looking for. That’s if you don’t mind a bit of discomfort while trying to sleep. Let’s jump into the review!
Our Treedom Villas & Vardos Experience
We paid roughly R3,400 for two nights in the Luxury Gypsy Wagon at Treedom Villas & Vardos, as part of our honeymoon. Prices will vary based on possible discounts, where you book your stay, and might increase with time.

With that little disclaimer out of the way, let’s get to it. The host (Debbie) is a wonderful person who shared the history of the venue with us. On arrival, a worker took our bags down with a little electric cart. Not bad at all, but we did have to walk down a steep hill as the pathway isn’t good for cars.
There’s a heart-shaped pool, a beautifully designed little wagon, and even a moon-shaped chair to sit on, and an outside bed. There’s a BBQ area we thoroughly enjoyed using, and it’s not too far from the shops. It’s quiet, but you will have to take a dirt road to the property.

Inside the Wagon-like structure, you have all the utensils and essentials. However, the bathroom is so small it is very difficult to take a poo, or shower. The bed is decent but again, you cannot even walk around it…too small! That’s what she said.
The bed is a bit skewed as well, so it feels as if you are sliding down. It wasn’t a good night’s sleep, and there are no curtains to close the round windows, so if the sun comes out, you are up!

Lastly, our gas (for the shower) didn’t work when we wanted to shower, but the host did sort that out quickly. I feel as if that should be sorted out before new guests arrive.
It’s beautiful, it’s just not comfortable enough to rest well.

Treedom Villas & Vardos Verdict & Rating
It goes without saying that the accommodation is pretty…really pretty! If you want to post about your stay on social media, then Treedom Villas & Vardos is perfect. There are, however, a few issues with the stay, such as no blinds or ways to block the windows, and the spacing being just a bit too tight, even for smaller persons such as myself and my fiancé. It’s also not handicap accessible, if you care about something like that, since you cannot drive down to the actual venue.
All in all, it was a good experience, just not a great one. The food (which we ordered ahead of time) was exceptional, so stay tuned for that separate review!
