Point Break Luxury Apartments (CPT) Review

->

The Point Break Luxury Apartments in Cape Town (Green Point) was located conveniently close to the Waterfront and the CTICC, which piqued our interest as we went for a trip to Comic-Con Cape Town 2024. It was the first of three accommodations we stayed at, and it was an interesting experience, to say the least.

Price, Location & Parking

If you are on a budget, you can’t ask for a better location in Green Point than the Point Break Luxury Apartments. For three nights (25 to 28 April 2024), we paid R4230 for a one-bedroom apartment (Room 404).

The address is Main Rd, Green Point, Cape Town, 8001

You can check out a map directly to the accommodation below. Thanks, Google!

We drove to Point Break Luxury Apartments, and had to park in a backroad. It was a bit difficult to find the parking entrance (they have free underground parking) via the main road. However, the lady at reception was kind enough to open up the gate from the back so we could drive in.

Room 404 Point Break Experience & Issues

We had a one-bedroom apartment (Room 404) with all the trimmings and a nice queen-sized bed to sleep on. The bedding was clean and comfortable, and there was ample room to work on our laptops, chill in front of the TV, and have a nice hot shower.

The kitchen is well-equipped, allowing you to make your own food with ease. Further, the locks on the door open with a keycard, and the security entails facial recognition. Both these security features worked without issues for us, but some guests did complain. Overall, a good experience, except for two issues.

We had two issues with the Point Break Luxury Apartments during our stay. First of all, there was trouble with the sliding door, so when the wind came up, there was an insane noise. This resulted in us not being able to sleep for the entire first night of our Cape Town trip. We did inform the staff, and a handyman came to fix the issue the next day. However, there was still some noise, making comfortable sleep difficult.

The second issue was with other guests on the fourth floor. They smoked weed consistently, and every time we walked through the halls, we could smell it clearly. Over the course of three days, the smell was abundant and clear, making us wonder why the staff or owners didn’t speak to the guests and ask them to stop. After all, these are all non-smoking rooms.

Point Break Luxury Apartments Restaurant & Food Service

Despite it not showing up on maps and on the Point Break Luxury Apartment’s Booking.com details, there is an actual restaurant on the ground floor of the accommodation. It offers some great food and cocktails, as well as a nice little pool and the Cape Town waterfront.

I had the Wagyu beef burger, and it didn’t disappoint. Everything was fresh and clean. The only issue I had with the restaurant at Point Break Luxury Apartments was rather slow service, especially when ordering a cocktail. Even so, the fresh and simplistic Wagyu burger made up for it.

In case you are wondering – Yes, you can order food to be delivered to your room from the restaurant’s menu.

Point Break Luxury Apartments Verdict

As our first experience staying in Cape Town for our Comic Con Africa trip, Point Break Luxury Apartments was a mixed back. The food was good, the location was nice, and the security was on-point. However, not being able to sleep well in the well-equipped apartment and having a constant smell of marijuana on the 4th floor, made it all a bit of an ordeal.

For those two rather big issues, despite all the positives, we give Point Break Luxury Apartments six stars out of a possible ten.
