Ferrymans Irish Tavern Review

->

We stayed at the Mountain Marina Luxury Apartments during our final days in Cape Town for our Comic-Con Africa trip. We met a friend close by at the Victoria & Alfred (V&A) Waterfront for supper and some drinks. The venue of choice was Ferrymans Irish Tavern, which came highly recommended by the friend we met. Here’s how things went down.

Ferrymans Food & Guinness Experience

It was a cold day in Cape Town, so we needed to get warmed up. After walking from our accommodation to the Ferrymans (which took about 20 minutes), we sat down just as the sun went down and were treated to some nice gas-powered heat from above.

Our friend arrived, but not before I already had a Guinness beverage. The foam art on each Guinness just looked so beautiful, and even after I finished all the liquid, we could still see the design at the bottom of the glass. What followed was a bit of a haze, but I can assure you every bit of authentic Guinness is absolutely delicious. It just goes down so smoothly, it spoilt all other beers for me, for life…

I had to eat, so I ordered the a classic: the shepherd’s pie, with a side salad. My fiance got a baked beef pie, which we could smell from afar. The energetic waiter kept us informed and lubricated throughout, helping seal the deal as the best dining experience I had in Cape Town.

Ferrymans Irish Tavern Review Verdict

If you ever find yourself in the V&A Waterfront, then go have supper (or lunch!) at Ferrymans. The experience was out of this world, with live music, perfect service, authentic Guinness, and a shepherd’s pie that is so good and hearty it could come straight out of the kitchen of an old Irish mum.

Ferrymans Irish Tavern is brilliantly fun, welcoming, and filled with warmth. It’s a beacon of light and a beautiful Irish pub experience that just radiates quality, from the draughts on tap to the perfectly-prepared food and the jolly service. I’ll fly to Cape Town just to eat there again.
